Geo Chevron

If you're loving the jewel tones of Emerald, Sapphire and Amethyst and you're not "over" chevrons yet (me neither!), you might like to see my newest additions to the Bee&Lotus Society6 shop.
According to Pantone colour forecasts, Emerald green is the official colour of 2013, I have really fallen for this shade and am hoping to see it popping up in home wares and clothes in mainstream shops really soon.

My Geo Chevron design is available in 3 jewel tones as an art print in various sizes and as cushion covers! AND this weekend Society6 is offering FREE SHIPPING worldwide.

I will be making these designs available in my Spoonflower shop as wallpaper and fabric to purchase by the yard very soon.
Have a sqizz and let me know what you think :)

Inspired: Bill Gibb

Today I made a lovely discovery at my local library, a book on the work of Scottish designer Bill Gibb.
I had not heard of this wonderful designer until now, but I have unwittingly appreciated his legacy through the amazing and wonderful designs of John Galliano.

'British designers are story tellers, fairytale tellers, dreamers and I think this was really the essence of the romance behind Bill Gibb'
-John Galliano

Here are just a few of Bill Gibb's creations, the last one being one of my favourites as it is decidedly contemporary and  because I just plain LOVE printed leather!

Gibb often collaborated with Kaffe Fassett to create luxurious knitwear.

Peachy/Beige/Cream

During the Christmas break I decided to repaint my little girl's bedroom. In October last year we moved into out current home which we LOVE!!!! However, we also inherited a very dated and boring colour scheme.
All of the walls in the entire house were painted a peachy/beige/cream colour, with a darker shade of peachy/beige/cream for the trim and doors. It is a huge job to paint the whole house and I feel anxious just thinking about it, so I decided to start with one room.

I used Wattyl Alta Sierra, a warm grey (CMYK= 19, 17, 25, 0) on the walls and painted the trim in Love Note white, which turns out to be the base white colour.
Here's how it turned out..

To add some colour I purchased a number of fair trade felt balls online from Felt & Yarn in Nepal and threaded them to make a garland. They are fantastic quality and were posted really quickly, I highly recommend using them. You can still see the horrible peachy colour of the wardrobe doors, which I will be painting in the garage soon.

The felt balls come in a HUGE range of colours of which I bought 10 x 28 of the different colours.
The Matryoshka wall hook is an oldie I picked up at an Op shop (Thrift store) years ago.

Now to frame those gorgeous Etsy prints........

New Year, New opportunities to create!

It has been a while!

Well, the holidays are over now, and the heat is on. Fortunately, there are no bushfires in the immediate area here, though we can smell the smoke of nearby fires. My deepest respect goes out to those brave men and women in the rural fire services in all Australian states and territories, and my heartfelt sympathies to those who have lost homes and livelihoods.

I'd like to tell you that my absence was due to an incredibly fruitful burst of creative outputs, but unfortunately that aint true. I have been very busy taking it easy :), flat out like a lizard drinking, as they say down under.

This year, we have been trying to make more of our nearby parks. The kids (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed spending time at our local lake. All that was required was a picnic blanket, a little food, togs and some buckets and spades. Sometimes it takes your children to show you how little they really need to be entertained :)

I have sooo many projects budding in my mind at the moment! I will make an effort to share them with you throughout 2013.
